Becoming You

1:1 confidence coaching for teens and young adults who are capable — but anxious, unsure, or stuck in their own heads.

Whether your child needs to find direction, quiet their anxiety, or stop letting pressure strangle a real talent, it almost always comes down to one thing they tell me themselves: “I need more confidence.” I help them build it for real — not with band-aids, but with the emotional skills that let a young person trust themselves and go after what they want.

Confidence can be taught — I’ve been teaching it for 46 years.

Does this sound like your kid?

You can see what they’ve got. They can’t.

Parents call me from all over New England for “success coaching,” “motivation,” “focus” — each sure their kid’s situation is one of a kind.

The words parents use
  • Smart, but can’t get out of their own way
  • Brilliant in practice, frozen when it counts
  • Worth measured in grades & likes
  • Anxious and unsure
  • Talent slipping under pressure

But when I sit down with the young person, almost every one tells me the same thing —

“I need more confidence.”

Underneath, it’s always the same: they don’t yet know who they are, or believe in what they’ve got. And that isn’t a personality you’re born with or without — it’s built, one real skill at a time.

Here’s what’s really going on
What’s really going on

This isn’t about a lack of talent or drive.

It’s that the emotional skills that build confidence — the ones earlier generations picked up just by being out in the world — weren’t passed on to this generation. Most kids today carry what I call Outcome Fever: they judge themselves by achievements and appearances instead of character.

But it’s character that makes a person successful — and confident.

The good news

These are skills. And skills can be learned.

Confidence isn’t a personality you’re born with or without. It’s built — one real emotional skill at a time.

How it works

One-on-one, I build the foundation confidence grows from.

I teach what I call the Six I’s — five inner strengths that add up to the one that matters most.

Because no one can feel like a success if, deep down, they don’t know who they are. We build each one together, then put it to work in your child’s real life.

The Six I’s
01ImaginationThink outside the box
02IndependenceStand on your own
03Intestinal FortitudeGuts when it’s hard
04IntimacyLet people in
05IntegrityBe yourself, always
The keystone
Identity

Knowing who you are — the one thing every kid needs, and where real confidence comes from.

Alongside that, we work on the practical muscles — setting goals, building focus and discipline, managing pressure and negative self-talk, getting off the phone, and learning to stay genuinely present, so they’re not stuck regretting the past or fearing the future.

The through-line

Under it all is the approach I’ve refined over 46 years — the same method behind my work with athletes and teams, my PRE-STAR system, brought to your child one-on-one. It helps them push through pressure, build a real sense of control over their own destiny, and turn dreams into something they actually go after.

A client’s story

John came to Jeff anxious and unsure of himself. Now he’s thriving.

In his words
“When I found Jeff, I was a very different person than I am today — feeling anxious, lacking self-confidence, and overall just not feeling very good about myself.… Jeff and I worked intensely on building my self-confidence and lowering my anxiety.… I would not be able to do the things I do today without Jeff’s support and help.

John had just lost his job and was looking for a way out of the pit he’d found himself in. Through their work together he rebuilt his confidence, eased his anxiety, and deepened his relationship with his father — and today he credits Jeff for his personal relationships and his professional success alike.

What it looks like

One-on-one, shaped to your child.

The work is one-on-one — in person where I can reach you, or virtually, which works almost as well. I also bring parents into the picture, because a little understanding at home keeps the progress going long after our work together.

Every young person is different, so we shape it to your child.
